The Webster Technique

The Webster Technique is a chiropractic analysis and adjustment that was discovered in 1978 by Dr. Larry Webster, the founder of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA). This technique can be used to safely reduce pelvic muscle and ligament tension to relieve their constraining effect on the uterus. Relieving intrauterine constraint enables an expectant mother’s baby to comfortably assume the best possible position for birth.

While the Webster Technique has received a high reported success rate for enabling babies to achieve the normal head down vertex position (including women whose babies are in the transverse and posterior positions and women pregnant with twins), at no time should it be interpreted as an obstetric “breech turning” technique. It is a specific chiropractic technique. However, when used throughout an expectant mother’s pregnancy, the Webster Technique can be an effective way to optimize pelvic biomechanics to benefit both the mother and the baby.
